Because of this, the knives are very popular with professionals in the catering industry.
The History of Knives
In every modern kitchen, a knife is a must-have. But what was it like before this? The world’s first knives were no more than bone-worked flint pieces. These were intended to distribute the cut food. From time to time, the blades were made from many different materials and shapes.
The three main knives that are used in today’s kitchen are the chef’s knife, paring knife, and serrated knife. With these, every cutting job can be done with ease. The bread knives are used for any hard-crusted food while the utility knife is perfect for smaller cutting jobs.
The Quality of Wusthof Knives
Wusthof is known for its top quality; every knife is manufactured and checked with the utmost precision. During production, the most modern quality control is used to produce the best possible product. Due to the high quality and health hallmarks such as HACCP, these knives are very suitable for professional kitchens. The knives stay sharp for a long time, making cutting simple. Together with the knives' comfortable hold, they are the ideal choice!
Not only is Wusthof great for professionals but is also a real asset for every hobby chef!
Wusthof PEtec Technology
Wusthof, compared to other competitors, differ with their latest PEtec technology. This sharpening technique ensures that every Wusthof knife is sharper than the average knife. Each knife will also stay sharp for a longer time. The main advantages include a perfect cutting performance from the start. The lasers also ensure that the grinding angles are identical on both sides. The technique is performed as follows:
- Lasers measure the blades before grinding
- Computers then individually calculate the exact sharpening angle for each blade
- Precision bumps sharpen the blades on a wet grindstone
- The knives then receive the ultimate polishing treatment using a special disc
The Wusthof Series
Wusthof knives are available in a range of series, from the basic to the exclusive. We would like to explain the four most important collections within the Wusthof range for you. The Wusthof Gourmet series is also called the entry-level range. This series has a wide selection to choose from and has a full plastic handle with no hand-guard.
The Wusthof Classic collection is the mid-range series. The Classic range features a hand-guard. This will protect your fingers from slipping to the blade.
The third series is the Wusthof Classic Ikon collection. Just like the Gourmet series, this range has no handguard. The handles of the Classic Ikon collection have a classic wooden look with a metal end. This ending gives the knife a heavier weight, resulting in perfect balance when holding.
Finally, for a truly exclusive assortment of knives, we have the Wusthof Epicure line. This series has a perfect hand position due to the excellent balance between blade and handle. The stylish appearance is due to the handles being made of Micarta. This material is made from natural fibres and resin, resulting in a pleasantly warm feeling like wood, but robust as plastic!
